As summertime approaches, the perfect time to start preparing for trips to the beach is NOW.

These five cameras can guarantee that you won’t miss out on capturing the fun and

crazy moments with your friends.

Olympus-Tough-TG-2

 Olympus Tough TG-2 ($399, amazon.com)

Sometimes you just need a camera that can really do it all, and this is one of the best in its class. The Olympus Tough TG-2 is waterproof up to 50 feet and has a fast lens capable of taking great underwater shots in challenging lighting conditions.

Must-Have AccessoryThe Olympus Telephoto Tough Lens Pack contains the Teleconverter Lens and the Conversion Lens Adapter. This increases the built-in lens focal length of 4x to 6.8x. What makes this even better? It can be attached while you’re underwater.

 Nikon AW1

Nikon 1 AW1 ($750,amazon.com)

This 14.2 megapixel camera is definitely on the pricier side, but with good reason. Nikon has developed the first interchangeable lens digital camera that you can feel comfortable bringing to the pool. The AW1 is compatible with all Nikon 1 lenses, but there are only two available that can go underwater and maintain the cameras rugged freezeproof and waterproof rating. The AW1 comes equipped with a 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6.

Must-Have AccessoryFor $200 more the 10mm f/2.8 lens is a worthy add-on. It’s only slightly wider than the standard lens.

gopro_hd_hero3_black_editionGo Pro Hero 3 – Black Edition   ($400), gopro.com

Most people know the GoPro camera from the mind-blowing Red Bull commercials and Youtube videos. This camera is designed for the adventure traveler, but there’s nothing wrong with taking it for a spin on a summer day at Coney Island. I suggest getting the black edition — it’s $100 more than the silver, but new features make it a no-brainer upgrade.

Must-Have Accessory: CD Touch BacPac allows you to get a live preview of what the camera sees making framing an image effortless. The downside: the touchscreen does not work underwater. GOPro needs to fix this, ASAP.

Sony Cyber-Shot TX30

Sony Cyber-Shot TX30   ($198), amazon.com

Sony continues to produce slick and stylish products that work for the fashion forward consumer. At first glance you would not be able to tell that this camera is waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and freezeproof. This 18 MP beast comes equipped with a F3.5-4.8, 26-130mm — equivalent to a ‘Carl Zeiss’ zoom lens, which is one of the longest zooms in its class. This underwater camera is available in blue, black, orange and pink.

PENTAX-WG-3-GPS

Pentax WG-3 GPS  ($265), amazon.com

Pentax has been a pioneer company in adventure photography, for years they have been dedicated in making quality rugged point and shoot and dslr cameras. Pentax enthusiast will not be disappointed with the 16 megapixel shooter that is is rated for use in water as deep as 45 feet. With the GPS version you will never have to remember where you took that last sunset shot.
